Zincstagram
“A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.”
– Diane Arbus
It usually starts with an idea. In this case, Zincstagram is a reflection on the erasure of our collective memories. It recycles the codes of Instagram-like photographs, with the usual additions of shapes, text and filters. But here, the creative process takes place in the real world, with real objects: zinc plates, old anonymous photos, filters materialized by tin balls or resin. These Zincstagrams are a reminder of the programmed erasure of our collective memory: instead of being carefully preserved as photo prints in shoeboxes, it is now stored en masse in clouds, where it feeds an emotionless artificial intelligence.
